Physiotherapy
Joints do not move on their own. The muscle, tendon, and fascia around them need a plan too.
Understanding it
What the physio visit covers
Chiropractic contacts in this clinic are about spinal joints and how a nerve is being bothered. Physiotherapy is about the tissue that moves and protects those joints: muscles that have shortened at a desk, tendons that are overloaded, ligaments after a sprain, and fascia that has stiffened after time in a brace.
The two sit side by side so a newly moving joint is not left inside the old muscle habit. People often recover faster, and the result lasts longer, when both are in the same plan.
This page explains how a visit is organised. It is not a diagnosis. Get urgent medical care for sudden weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, fever with spine pain, or pain after a major fall or crash.
Root patterns
Problems the physio work is built for
Pain is rarely only a joint or only a muscle. This is the soft-tissue side.
Muscle strains
Overstretched fibres from sport or a sudden load. Graded loading and hands-on work rebuild strength. Rest alone leaves a weak scar.
Tendon overload
Outer elbow, shoulder, Achilles, kneecap tendon. These need progressive loading, not endless rest, once the angry phase has settled.
Ligament sprains
Ankles and knees that keep rolling. Balance and control work stop the next sprain better than a brace worn forever.
Stiffness after injury or surgery
Joints lose range and tissue binds. Mobilising and progressive stretch give the range back.
Desk imbalance
Grippy upper shoulders, a quiet neck deep-flexor, hips that do not switch on. Exercise rewrites the pattern that became pain.
After an adjustment
Muscles have to learn the new joint position. Strength and a short home plan are what make the contact stick.
Progression
Four phases of tissue recovery
Loading the wrong phase, too soon or too late, is why many strains become chronic.
010–72 hours
Protect and settle
Swelling is highest. Keep movement that does not spike pain. Aggressive stretch is the wrong tool this week.
02Days to weeks
Guide the new fibres
Collagen is laid down in a tangle. Controlled motion and light holds start to line it up.
03Weeks to months
Load it on purpose
The tissue can take more range and more weight. This is where strength and the actual sport or job return.
04Return
Speed and trust
The tissue can be healed while the nervous system still hesitates. Balance, quicker drills, and a graded return finish the job.
Recovery is matched loading, not waiting. Most long tendon pain is a phase that was skipped.
Recognition
Patterns that belong here
Name the pattern and the phase, then the work follows.
A local muscle ache
After a sudden effort, an awkward move, or a long held posture.
Tendon pain with the usual task
The elbow, shoulder, knee, or Achilles hurts in the activity that loads it.
Stiffness after rest
The joint will not finish its range, especially in the morning.
A joint that keeps giving way
Repeated sprains mean control never fully returned.
Weakness after injury or surgery
Strength and swelling that will not finish on their own.
In the room
Techniques we use
Dry needling
Fine needles into a muscle knot to release a point that hands and stretch have not shifted. The target is anatomical, not a traditional meridian point.
Best for Stubborn knots and muscle that is guarding after injury.
Shockwave
Acoustic pulses over a chronic tendon to stir local circulation when ordinary loading has plateaued. It is not used in pregnancy or over an infection.
Best for Plantar fascia, elbow tendons, Achilles, and some shoulder tendons.
Ultrasound
Sound energy used to warm deeper tissue and soften early scar. It is comfortable and brief.
Best for Recent sprains, deeper strains, and tissue that has stuck down.
Electrical stimulation
One setting eases pain signalling. Another wakes a muscle that has switched off after injury or surgery.
Best for Acute pain and muscles that will not fire, such as a quiet thigh after a knee problem.
Tape
Elastic tape along a muscle to support it without locking the joint, and to remind the body of the position you are retraining.
Best for Return to sport, swelling, and shoulder or knee control.
Hands-on work
Soft-tissue release and graded joint movement. This is the base of the session. Machines are added when the phase calls for them.
Best for Stiffness and every visit, before any gadget.
“I kept playing on a calf tear. The physio in Puchong was specific about which week I was in and what not to do yet. Six weeks later I was back on court without repeating it.”

Questions
Common questions
The adjustment is about a specific spinal joint. Physiotherapy is about the muscle, tendon, ligament, and control around it. Many people do both.
